The following is a personal account: There was once a man who hired a worker; this worker would work, day after day, but not receive any payment. One day, the worker demanded his pay, but the employer refused to give him his money. It seems that the employer was in the habit of oppressing people and not giving them their money, to the point that it became a normal practice for him. The worker reminded the employer about Allaah and His punishment, without any results.
The worker started telling others of his predicament, and the news spread, which made the employer become even more oppressive towards him; he wished to get rid of the worker, thinking that by firing him, or deporting him to his country, the case would end. So, sure enough, he fabricated a story against him, the result of which was that the worker was arrested and deported. The employer rejoiced at the result, but he forgot that an oppressed person’s supplications are never turned away by Allaah; He says to the oppressed, in response to his supplications, as in the Qudsi narration: “I swear by my Might and Glory! Kita akan membicarakan tentang mengapa Allah s.w.t. menghancurkan penduduk sesebuah negeri dan bahkan sesebuah umat. Mengapa mereka dihancurkan? Apakah Allah s.w.t. berbuat zalim kepada mereka? Tidak sama sekali, bahkan itulah balasan kezaliman yang mereka lakukan. Allah s.w.t. befirman, maksudnya, “Dan kami tidaklah menganiaya mereka, tetapi merekalah yang menganiaya diri mereka sendiri”. (Surah Huud, Ayat 101)

Banyak sekali ayat al-Quran ataupun hadith-hadith Rasulullah yang menyatakan tentang perbandingan antara keutamaan dan kenikmatan kehidupan akhirat dengan kehidupan dunia, yang mana akan didapati betapa jauhnya kemuliaan di antara keduanya, bahkan tidak sedikit adanya celaan terhadap kehidupan dunia. Akan tetapi celaan tersebut tidaklah ditujukan kepada siang dan malamnya, bumi tempat dunia ini berada, lautan, sungai-sungai, hutan dan lain-lain kerana semua itu adalah nikmat Allah bagi hamba-hamba-Nya, tetapi celaan itu ditujukan kepada tingkah laku anak Adam dan penghuninya terhadapnya. Allah Ta’ala berfirman: ”Ketahuilah bahawa (yang dikatakan) kehidupan dunia itu tidak lain hanyalah (bawaan hidup yang berupa semata-mata) permainan dan hiburan (yang melalaikan) serta perhiasan (yang mengurang), juga (bawaan hidup yang bertujuan) bermegah-megah di antara kamu (dengan kelebihan, kekuatan, dan bangsa keturunan) serta berlumba-lumba membanyakkan harta benda dan anak pinak…”. (Surah Al-Hadid, Ayat 20)

Austrian millionaire Karl Rabeder is giving away every penny of his £3 million fortune after realising his riches were making him unhappy.
Mr Rabeder, 47, a businessman from Telfs is in the process of selling his luxury 3,455 sq ft villa with lake, sauna and spectacular mountain views over the Alps, valued at £1.4 million.
Also for sale is his beautiful old stone farmhouse in Provence with its 17 hectares overlooking the arrière-pays, on the market for £613,000. Already gone is his collection of six gliders valued at £350,000, and a luxury Audi A8, worth around £44,000.
Mr Rabeder has also sold the interior furnishings and accessories business – from vases to artificial flowers – that made his fortune.
